ParamKL?!!

PARAM is short for PAsar + RAMadhan.
Every year, Malaysians, both Muslims and non-Muslims flock PARAMs
during the month of Ramadhan.
PARAM is active in most areas across Malaysia as early as 3pm up to 8pm.

PARAMKL serves two situations for people in the Klang Valley:

  • Happening Hock Lei is going to a PARAM and doesn’t know which are the stalls that sells the good stuff,
  • Pretty Patimah is craving for ayam percik and wants to know which PARAM in town sells the best of that.

WHO? WHY? WHEN?

  1. Param KL is a not-for-profit community project to gather information on good food stalls at PAsar RAMadhans.
  2. The project was co-founded in 2010 by arts group RandomAlphabets and its affiliate company Wago Sdn. Bhd.
  3. In 2010, its inception year, the project was done probono and this year, Wago Sdn. Bhd. and RandomAlphabets are delighted over the support it receives from sponsors this year.
  4. It is managed by Wago Sdn. Bhd. with the support of volunteers of RandomAlphabets as well as the public.
  5. Anyone & everyone is encouraged to contribute and share the good things they’ve tasted at a Param.
  6. A key objective of the project is the vast sharing of information across social groups for this once a year feature in Malaysian society.
  7. Other objectives are such as to utilize the community built, by pushing for messages such as:
  • avoid wastage of food with over-buying,
  • bring your own shopping bag so as to reduce usage of plastic,
  • ways to help the traffic and parking situation at Params as well as
  • being a more participatory society, especially for such a community based event like the month long Params.

Also by us all sharing, with knowing better what to buy and where, we won’t end up buying too much at PARAMs thus avoiding wastage..aiyoyo. And the stalls who are good but not so known will have good business and that way won’t go missing at next years PARAM..no aiyoyo. :)
